A man and a woman have died after an accident in which a car slammed into an SUV stopped on the shoulder of the Belt Parkway, police said Tuesday. Cops said the crash happened at about noon Sunday on the westbound side of the highway at Rockaway Blvd., near JFK Airport. They said a 2015 GMC Yukon carrying six people pulled onto the shoulder and a 2018 Toyota Camry rear-ended it.
Five people were taken to Jamaica Hospital. One passenger, a 90-year-old woman, died at the hospital Sunday, and a 60-year-old man died Tuesday, cops said. The man driving the Yukon and three other women in his car were injured, cops said. Police are still investigating the crash, and have not yet released the names of the two people who died.
